Teaching Technical Skills & Reinforcing Business Acumen.

Web-based start-ups are on the rise today more than ever. For these skills to be taught in a university setting to business students that have no technical programming skills is something I'm incredibly thrilled to be a part of.

I teach students about topics such as HTML/CSS, SEO, digital marketing tactics, customer acquisition methods, and how to create a tangible business model. It's really exciting to hear what each aspiring entrepreneurship student is passionately working on to create their livelihood. Walking through this process with my students taught me about new industries, and strengthened my problem solving skills for business plans of different natures. I also hold office hours for 50-60 students per semester, and guide them to learn more about web hosting processes and programs.

Improving the Curriculum.

- -

As this class has true potential to create real success for students who take full advantage of the class, I felt it was my duty to conduct field research and combine it with personal insights to improve the curriculum. After compiling my research, I presented to Professor JP Allen Ph.D.  to show how I intend to go above and beyond.

Currently, I am assisting him in writing an Internet Business Applications textbook for entrepreneurs looking for resources to kickstart their online presence. This project has motivated me to become well-versed in web analytics and inbound marketing to showcase my expertise in the topic as a contributing author!

Redesigning the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Major.

- -

With a significant amount of my time spent teaching and researching for this class, I realized my research could assist in improving the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Major as a whole, rather than just one class.

I scheduled a meeting with USF's Entrepreneurship Department Chair and the author of the Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Confidence Index Report, Dr. Mark Cannice. My research encompassed common topics that tended to be overlooked or undervalued by USF's starting entrepreneurs and possible resources that can extend into the redesign.

Afterwards, he encouraged me to take his thought leadership course–a class I'm taking this spring.
